Custom Elements UI: Award-Winning Low-Code Headless Drupal Solution by drunomics, Runner-Up at the Splash Awards in Solutions

08.11.2024,

In November 2024, the seventh annual Splash Awards Germany and Austria honored the best Drupal projects from both countries. The Splash Awards aim to increase the visibility of the Drupal content management system (CMS) by recognizing innovative projects in nine categories. This year the Vienna-based development company, drunomics GmbH, was awarded as the runner-up in the Solutions category with its latest front-end innovation, Custom Elements UI

Custom Elements UI is a flexible and modular solution that enhances Drupal’s front-end capabilities by integrating customizable web components. This allows developers and non-technical users alike to create modern, high-performance websites without complex coding. The solution empowers site builders to design and customize web pages while maintaining Drupal’s powerful backend system.

Oliver Berndt, Managing Partner and COO of drunomics, added: “Our recognition as a runner-up at the Splash Awards is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. We’re proud to showcase Custom Elements UI, which demonstrates how enterprise-level customization can be achieved while maintaining ease of use for non-technical users.”

Roderik Muit, senior backend developer (w/o lead) of the Custom Elements module at drunomics, emphasized the impact of the latest version: “The new Custom Elements UI significantly accelerates changes to decoupled Drupal sites by offering a straightforward interface that allows developers to modify backend output without writing Drupal or PHP code. This update enables users to easily include or exclude properties and adjust output formats, reducing turnaround times and improving flexibility. It ensures that both the backend API and the frontend consuming it can be adapted simultaneously, making it an invaluable tool for headless Drupal implementations.”

The Splash Awards, held in Berlin, serve as a platform to highlight the innovation and community contributions made by the Drupal ecosystem. In addition to its project nomination, drunomics continues to play an active role in the German-speaking and international Drupal communities. The company’s team not only participated in several events throughout the year, including Drupal Mountain Camp in Switzerland, DrupalCon Europe in Barcelona, and the Drupal Developer Days in Burgas, Bulgaria, but were also involved in the organisation.

Jeremy Chinquist served as Co-Chair of the Program Team at DrupalCon Europe and he continues to serve as the cashier at Drupal Autria

Sinduri Guntupalli, also a Drupal Austria member, was one of the key organizers at both Drupal Mountain Camp and Drupal Developer Days. Our team is dedicated to contributing to discussions on the future of Drupal and open-source technology.
