For my Blocks & Layouts presentation at our local Drupal Austria Meetup, Drupal Dev Days Szeged & recently at DrupalCamp Donetsk, I have reached out to the community to gather some data. 60 participants provided their input on favorite Drupal 7 layout tools and what they expect from Drupal 8. It's time to share the results:

One of the biggest reason why drupal takes so long to learn is because there so many way to editing a layout.

Instead of learning about just one tool to do the job. You have to learn about 5 different layout tools!
Then you have to have good understand when to use which type of tool...

With so many different screen sizes now to design for we
need one main layout module that can be extend by plugin modules.

Not loads of different layout doing the same type of job

60 replies on a survey is not enough to do a proper statistic survey, I would void your results on the basis that you did not get enough feedback, there is 32,917 registered developers (or is it users) on d.o out of those 0,001822766% (assuming all of them are registered on d.o) replied to the survey.

you math is a little off.. 60/32,917 = 0.18%.. but still, not an excellent sample size to be statistically relevant.
